About Me

A cruise is a religion within its self, keeps the mine clear and the blood pumping, specially when the atmosphere is just right.

As Pa said life is like a cruise

About Me

Hello everyone.  John Noble from the Geelong Street Rodders here...

As a 17 year-old, my first "hot rod" was a modified EK Holden station wagon, which gave way to a street-registered X2-powered HD Holden, which held quite a few drag racing records.

When this wore out, it was replaced by a black GTR  LC Torana which also went very very well & was well-known around the McCann Street, Geelong circuit.  In between these cars, was a 1949 Rover which looked good, but performed miserably, and a stocky pure-white FJ Holden.

After a few more modified street cars, I obtained a 1959 Morris 1000 windowless van that I had sign-written & used  for years, to advertising the family business.

My first REAL hot rod was a '23 T-Bucket that went very well after I replaced the original motor & tranny with a fire-breathing monster 308 & Trimatic.

For the next few years I ran the '29 Ford Tourer, which certainly is no "tyre-fryer", just a cruiser.

At the moment I have a 1947 Bedforf utility based on a WB Holden chassis, with a mild 253 & Trimatic:- a 1940 Commer pick-up, based on a Hi-Lux chassis & powered by a Holden 304 & T700 :- a 1949 2-door Ford Anglia (Popular) in a million pieces, and a 1947 4-door Ford Prefect, on a custom made & engineered chassis, with an early Buick V6 & Auto.

I recently sold a 1959 Thames panel van & a 1962 Prefect panel van, as I had too many projects, and only four sheds to fit them in.

There is also a 1990 Lexus LS400 that was purchased primarily for the "1-UZ-FE" V8 & 4-speed electronic auto, but that turned out to be far too good a car to wreck, so I use that to get me to the ASRF  DC meetings once a month.

I'm always on the lookout for new projects, but sanity is starting to kick-in & curtail the collection.

I love looking at other hot rods being constructed, to obtain inspiration for my own cars.

The saying that I love the most, is..

"Life is far too short to drive boring cars",

followed very closely by ..

"You may not like me, but you'll never be bored around me".

Cheers everyone
